Blue batik on white paper

This bowl is decorated with 2 fragments of blue batik fabric. Blue on white is my favourite combination. The white rice paper is nicely opaque and has a delicate egg shell sheen on the inside
I like how the torn edges look against the light.

Bowl measures about 19 cm in diameter and 7 cm high.

The baby bowl has been sold but I will make more.

Green cabbage

I was keen to make a bowl from the beautiful green mulberry paper I came upon at a Paper shop. The bowl is very delicate, with only 2 layers at most. I love the fibres of the mulberry paper - they look like calligraphic marks. The bowl measures about 8 cm high, diameter is 12 cm. 

This little bowl makes me happy

It was made with left-over paper pieces, then left alone.
Then a plain white foot was added. Then it was left alone.
Then one day I added the bold lines to the brim and the foot, and walla!

Zen 1 and 2 ( sounds horribly new-age but...)

 ...until I can be more creative in naming bowls, this name will have to do.

Zen because of the simplicity of the decoration,
the clean whiteness of the paper and
the rich deep blue of the wax lines.
Also making it was quite effortless by this time.

A spiral line was used hence the brim of the bowl was trimmed. 

Blue is my favourite but green is spring...

Longing for grass and flowers in early August in Melbourne (winter) was the reason for this bowl.

Bowl for an old friend

I had not seen him for nearly 30 years. He has a black belt in a Japanese martial art, so I thought the black and blue would suit!
